The tradition names sesame and oil as the daan for Rahu, and its day is Saturday. Rahu and Ketu have no weekday of their own, so their daan is made on Saturday.
You decide how much to give, in kilos or grams. The amount follows from that weight at the temple's current rate, so you know what your money buys and how much of it.
The daan is made with a sankalp in your name, gotra and place. The temple's pandit ji takes the sankalp and makes the daan at the right muhurat.
The amount is charged 5 days before the daan date, so the temple can buy the items in time.
After the daan, the temple sends a photo and the details of the sankalp.
